DOJ issues ILBOs vs 60 in missing sabungeros case

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued Immigration Lookout Bulletin Orders (ILBOs) against over 60 individuals implicated in the case of missing cockfight enthusiasts, also known as 'sabungeros'.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed that ILBOs were issued to all personalities named by whistleblower Julie Patidongan, who tagged gambling tycoon Charlie "Atong" Ang as the mastermind behind the disappearance and murder of over 100 cockfight enthusiasts.

Actresses Gretchen Barretto and retired Lt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo are among those named in the ILBOs.

The ILBOs are in line with the preliminary investigation started by the DOJ against them for murder and illegal detention charges.

Following the completion of the evaluation stage, the DOJ Panel of Prosecutors will commence the preliminary investigation by issuing subpoenas.

Prosecutors may request a precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) from the court to ensure respondents remain in the Philippines until the investigation concludes.
