DOH says LGUs on heightened alert to prevent further entry of Delta COVID-19 variant
The Department of Health (DOH) is urging local government units (LGUs) to be on heightened alert and enforce strict border controls to prevent the further entry and spread of the Delta COVID-19 variant.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that all LGUs have been informed to be on guard across all borders and that there should be no uniformity in the implementation of border control.
The DOH reported four additional Delta variant cases, with three being Returning Overseas Filipinos from the MV Eastern Hope.
These three cases were repatriated on June 3, 2021, after testing positive in South Korea; two have completed their isolation and one is still hospitalized in Metro Manila.
The DOH has also decided to maintain current quarantine protocols for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Cebu.
