PH detects 17 Delta variant cases

The Philippines has detected a total of 17 cases of the Delta coronavirus variant, first identified in India.

Four new cases of the Delta variant were added to the previously confirmed 13 cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.

Three of these new cases are Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) who were crew members of the MV Eastern Hope, a ship docked in South Korea.

These three crew members, who tested positive for COVID-19 via RT-PCR in South Korea, were repatriated to the Philippines on June 3, 2021.

Two of the three crew members have completed their isolation and have been discharged after recovery, while one remains hospitalized in Metro Manila.

The fourth additional case is a ROF who arrived from Saudi Arabia on May 24, 2021, has completed isolation, and was tagged as recovered on June 10, 2021.

This ROF has been discharged from isolation and is currently under strict home quarantine.
