DOH Caraga reports 3 new PUIs for COVID-19

The Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH-13) has reported three new Patients Under Investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19, all of whom are currently in isolation.

The three PUIs, all Filipino males aged 24, 31, and 38, have travel histories to countries with COVID-19 cases and are exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

Samples from the PUIs are being sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for testing.

One PUI is admitted at the Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City, while the other two are at the Adella Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

DOH-13 Director Jose Llacuna Jr. clarified that there are no confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Caraga Region and urged the public not to panic.

The region also has 58 Patients Under Monitoring (PUMs), with 53 having completed their isolation period and five still being monitored.

In response to the situation, several local government units in the Caraga Region have temporarily suspended classes in all levels starting March 13.
