DOH allows Metro Manila LGUs to vaccinate anyone to speed up inoculation

The Department of Health (DOH) has permitted local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to vaccinate any willing individual, regardless of priority group, to accelerate inoculation efforts against the Delta variant.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that this expansion is part of the strategy to combat the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant.

Vergeire stressed that the actual implementation will still be dependent on the available vaccine supply.

She added that even with this strategy, the most vulnerable should still be prioritized.

The National Task Force Against COVID-19 earlier recommended the vaccination of individuals who do not belong to the top priority groups as authorities race to contain the highly contagious Delta variant.

Vergeire assured that vaccine recipients will be allowed to leave their homes even under ECQ to get to their vaccination site.

She also called on local authorities to provide transportation for residents who will get vaccinated.
