1 million Sinovac doses arrive in Metro Manila

One million doses of the Sinovac vaccine arrived in Metro Manila on Thursday night, augmenting the region's request for four million additional doses during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Vaccination czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that these new doses will help meet the vaccination demand during the ECQ period, which runs from August 6 to 20.

Galvez assured the public that vaccine supplies are sufficient and more are expected to arrive, urging them not to rush their vaccination.

The MMDA Chairman acknowledged the challenging target of administering 250,000 vaccine doses daily in Metro Manila during the ECQ.

The additional vaccines aim to help Metro Manila achieve 50 percent fully-vaccinated population after the ECQ, moving closer to the government's target for population protection.

Supplies will also be increased in other areas including Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Metro Davao, Metro Cebu, Cagayan de Oro City, Iloilo, Aklan, Apayao, and parts of the Ilocos region, some of which are also under ECQ or modified ECQ.
