DILG assures Capas residents are safe from nCoV

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año assured residents of Capas, Tarlac that they are safe from the novel Coronavirus (nCoV) infection.

Año stated that there is no risk to residents as protective measures are being enforced at the New Clark City (NCC) quarantine facility.

He emphasized that repatriated Filipinos from Wuhan, China, will not be seen by locals as they are housed in the Athletes' Village.

The government chose NCC out of necessity and national interest to help Filipinos needing quarantine.

Approximately 30 Filipinos arrived and are undergoing a 14-day quarantine, with only those showing no symptoms allowed to board the aircraft and undergo further screening upon arrival.

Those with symptoms are immediately brought to the hospital.

The Capas government initially opposed the quarantine plan but later agreed to host the first batch of repatriates.
