405K overseas Pinoys repatriated since Feb. 2020: DFA
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has repatriated a total of 405,769 distressed overseas Filipinos (OFs) since February 2020, with 105,606 being sea-based and 300,163 land-based.
In Dubai, 2,069 Filipinos were repatriated through chartered flights since June, and 351 from Oman.
The DFA has scheduled six more flights from the UAE and two from Oman for August to continue repatriation efforts.
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes had previously advised OFWs to postpone their return to the Philippines unless absolutely necessary due to the rise of the Delta variant.
The DFA is working to bring all stranded individuals home, but faces challenges due to travel restrictions and the volume of people needing repatriation.
