DFA offices in malls bar unvaccinated individuals

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has prohibited unvaccinated individuals from entering its consular offices located in malls as long as the National Capital Region (NCR) remains under Alert Level 3 or higher.

This restriction also applies to temporary off-site passport services (TOPS) situated within mall premises.

The DFA cited the mall's own security and health protocols as the reason for enforcing this rule, as these host malls prevent unvaccinated individuals, including minors, from entering.

Applicants affected by this advisory are urged to verify the specific regulations of the malls before their scheduled appointments.

Alternatively, individuals can reschedule their appointments for a later date when they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or when mall restrictions for the unvaccinated are lifted.

The DFA seeks the public's understanding and cooperation in its efforts to provide passport services while prioritizing safety during the pandemic.

This measure follows a resolution by NCR mayors urging local government units to implement ordinances that restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals outside their residences, with certain exceptions.
