LGUs, PNP enforce restrictions on unvaccinated individuals

Local government units and the police have begun enforcing restrictions on unvaccinated individuals in areas under Alert Level 3, as per the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) appealed for public understanding as strict checkpoints were put up for inbound and outbound travelers in Metro Manila and Bulacan to ensure the restriction's enforcement.

This measure aims to help contain the spread of COVID-19, particularly in Alert Level 3 areas, and protect unvaccinated individuals from getting infected, hospitalized, dying, or spreading the disease.

Motorists and commuters are now required to present proof of vaccination when entering malls, public places, and using public transportation.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has been making adjustments to alleviate traffic congestion at busy checkpoints and implement schemes to lessen inconvenience to the traveling public.

For instance, Quezon City has passed an ordinance requiring unvaccinated individuals to stay in their homes unless they are accessing essential goods and services, and Metro Manila mayors passed a resolution banning them from indoor and al fresco dining, hotels, and country clubs.
