Defend Jobs PH lists 3,557 firms allegedly not applying for CAMP aid

Labor group Defend Jobs Philippines has provided the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) with a list of 3,557 private companies that have allegedly not yet applied for the government's P5,000 COVID-19 Assistance Measure Program (CAMP) for their workers.

The list was compiled from 16,432 online complaints received by the labor group between March 24 and 28 through their COVID-19 Labor Monitor campaign.

CAMP is a DOLE program designed to provide financial support to workers whose employers have implemented flexible working arrangements or temporary closures due to the enhanced community quarantine.

Out of the total complaints, 28 workers reported receiving the P5,000 assistance, while 8,563 indicated their employers did not apply for CAMP for various reasons.

An additional 7,823 workers are still awaiting DOLE's response and processing of their employers' CAMP applications.

Defend Jobs Philippines urged DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III to investigate the submitted list and ensure swift action from all DOLE offices.

The labor group also called for decisive action from DOLE to compel employer compliance and suggested legal action against non-compliant companies.

Furthermore, Defend Jobs Philippines requested DOLE to publish a running list of pending CAMP applications on its social media platforms.
