Comelec to finish ACM accuracy tests by April 20

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) aims to complete the pre-election logic and accuracy tests (Pre-LAT) for all 110,000 automated counting machines (ACMs) by April 20.

As of Monday, approximately 47,000 ACMs have undergone the Pre-LAT.

Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia stated that they are working to finish testing all machines by the target date.

The Pre-LAT involves a thorough check of both hardware and software components of the ACMs to ensure their accuracy.

A common issue observed during these tests is the rejection of ballots due to damage.

The TEC certification cannot be issued until the Comelec completes its accuracy tests, even if the ICE certification has already been received.

The Comelec will begin deploying the ACMs for the May polls on April 4.

Of the 110,000 ACMs rented, about 94,000 will be deployed to polling precincts nationwide, with 16,000 held in reserve.
