Classes suspended in 22 areas in Negros Occidental due to STS Bebinca

Classes across all levels were suspended in thirteen towns and nine cities in Negros Occidental on Friday, September 13, due to the enhanced southwest monsoon and Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca.

The suspension in Negros Occidental included Bago, Sipalay, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Himamaylan, Talisay, Silay, Victorias, and Bacolod City, along with the towns of Binalbagan, Isabela, Hinigaran, Pulupandan, Cauayan, Hinoba-an, E.B. Magalona, Candoni, Ilog, Pontevedra, Valladolid, Moises Padilla, and Murcia.

In Bacolod City, Mayor Albee Benitez suspended classes from pre-school to senior high school, leaving college-level suspensions to school heads.

Albay, Negros Occidental (Candoni, Binalbagan, Isabela, Hinigaran, Cauayan, and Sipalay City), and Camarines Sur also had classes suspended across all levels.

Preschool to senior high school classes were suspended in Iloilo City and Aklan.

A red rainfall warning was issued for Sorsogon province, an orange warning for Albay, and yellow warnings for Catanduanes and Camarines Norte.

Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Mindanao were expected to experience rainy weather, while the Bicol Region, southern Quezon, Batangas, and the rest of Visayas anticipated overcast skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon might have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca was located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility with sustained winds of 95 kph and gusts of up to 115 kph as of Friday morning.
