Rama's party throws support to BBM-Sara duo
Cebu's local political party, BAKUD, led by the Duranos, has officially endorsed the presidential and vice presidential candidacies of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Danao City Mayor Ramonito Durano III, chairman emeritus of BAKUD, cited a long-standing friendship between his family and the Marcos family as a primary reason for their support.
His father and the late Ferdinand Marcos served together in Congress in 1949, and his father supported Marcos in the 1969 presidential elections.
Mayor Durano also expressed a personal, decades-long friendship with Marcos Jr., describing him as a "very good person."
The Partido BARUG-PDP Laban, headed by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, also announced its support for the Marcos-Duterte tandem.
Mayor Rama stated that their party previously endorsed Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go but shifted their support after his withdrawal from the presidential race.
BARUG's endorsement followed BAKUD's announcement of support for Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.
