Cebu City Jail PDLs to undergo mandatory swab testing

Cebu City Jail persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will now undergo mandatory swab testing before being admitted or released, as mandated by Executive Order No. 71 signed by Mayor Edgardo Labella.

This measure aims to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) within the jail facility.

A total of 210 inmates and jail officials have been recorded with COVID-19 infections.

The Regional Trial Court, Municipal Trial Court, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Cebu City government unanimously agreed to support the new executive order.

Medical personnel of the Cebu City Health Department will conduct the swab collection, with the Cebu City Police Office providing security.

Inmates found positive of COVID-19 will be brought to a designated isolation room adjacent to the jail facility.
