Cayetano: 935 'fail' marks found on collapsed Sta. Maria-Cabagan Bridge

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano revealed that approximately 935 "fail" marks were detected in the Sta. Maria-Cabagan Bridge in Isabela prior to its collapse.

He presented reports from urban engineers showing numerous defects, indicated by pink markings, across the bridge segments.

Cayetano suggested that the bridge's collapse was not unexpected, given the consistent problems and failures documented over five years.

He questioned the public's lack of outrage over the collapse of the "billion peso" bridge, implying it was an accident waiting to happen.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan stated that a special committee has been formed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the bridge's collapse, with findings due by April 25.

The Cabagan-Sta Maria Bridge collapsed on February 27 when a dump truck exceeding the 45-ton weight limit attempted to cross.
