The first patient under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 in the Caraga region, a 25-year-old who traveled from Hong Kong, has tested negative for the disease.
Samples from the PUI were sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) on Monday and the results were received on Wednesday, confirming the negative result.
Although the patient's symptoms of fever, cough, and colds have disappeared, health officials stated they will continue to observe the patient to be "doubly sure."
The DOH-13 confirmed that Caraga region currently has zero confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Of the 40 persons initially listed as persons under monitoring (PUMs) in the region, 27 have completed their monitoring period, while 13 remain under strict observation.
Caraganons are advised by the DOH to continue practicing preventive measures against the virus.
