Inclement weather grounds domestic flights

Several domestic flights were canceled on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, due to inclement weather conditions.

Cebu Pacific canceled flights 5J821 (Manila to Virac) and 5J822 (Virac to Manila) servicing Virac Airport.

PAL Express and CebGo flights to and from Bicol International Airport were also affected.

Flights to Davao Airport experienced diversions, including PAL Express's GAP2819 from Manila diverted to Cebu.

Philippine Airlines' PAL1365 from Cebu to Davao was also diverted to Cebu, and CebGo's SR16739 from Cagayan to Davao was diverted back to Cagayan.

The Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Services Administration forecasts rain showers across most of the country due to a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon.

The LPA is located east of Surigao del Norte and has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The southwest monsoon is expected to enhance conditions on Thursday and Friday, having already displaced over 90,000 families and caused millions in damages.
