CA to vet Transportation, Communications Secretaries next week

Transportation Secretary Vivencio "Vince" Dizon III and Presidential Communications Secretary Jaybee "Jay" Ruiz are scheduled to face confirmation hearings before the Commission on Appointments (CA) next week.

The CA, comprising members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, will hold its confirmation hearings starting June 3.

Dizon was appointed in February following the resignation of Secretary Jaime Bautista due to health reasons and submitted a courtesy resignation as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. before being reappointed.

Ruiz, a former broadcast journalist who also took office in February, similarly submitted his resignation as part of the administration's recalibration efforts and was retained by the President.

Henry Rhoel Aguda, former Union Digital Bank president and CEO, is also set for confirmation as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, replacing Ivan John Uy who resigned in March.

On June 4, the CA Committee on Constitutional Commissions and Offices will hold hearings for appointments to the Commission on Elections, Civil Service Commission, and Commission on Audit.
