CA approves Dizon as DOTr secretary

The Commission on Appointments (CA) approved the ad interim appointment of Vivencio "Vince" Dizon as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Dizon, who assumed office in February following the resignation of former Secretary Jaime Bautista due to health reasons, discussed plans to address transportation challenges, including traffic congestion along major highways in Metro Manila.

He highlighted the extensions and interconnectivity of the LRT-1, MRT-3, and MRT-7 rail lines as priorities.

Dizon confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. did not accept his courtesy resignation.

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go expressed his full support for Dizon's appointment and challenged him to prioritize inclusive development.

The CA also approved the appointments of Luis Pangulayan as Civil Service Commission (CSC) commissioner, replacing Aileen Lourdes Lizada and serving until February 2032, and Douglas Mallillin as Commission on Audit (COA) commissioner, succeeding Roland Pondoc and also serving until 2032.

Additionally, the CA confirmed the ad interim appointments of 86 generals, flag officers, and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

However, the CA suspended the appointments of two Commission on Elections (COMELEC) commissioners, Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal and Noli Pipo, due to lack of material time.
