Butuan begins cash aid distribution to 50,932 households

The city government of Butuan has begun distributing cash aid to 50,932 households as part of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Each household is set to receive P5,000 in assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The distribution is being conducted door-to-door for non-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.

A recent update in the SAP guidelines caused a delay in the distribution as beneficiaries had to be re-validated.

Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada urged all city government offices to expedite the process for faster release of the aid.

A total of 65,978 beneficiaries in Butuan City are expected to receive SAP aid.

Meanwhile, the city government and private sector partners are also preparing a separate distribution of goods to supplement the cash assistance.

Mayor Lagnada assured residents that government assistance will reach them and urged everyone to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
