Bulacan opens 250-bed COVID-19 isolation center

The Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC), a 250-bed isolation hub for COVID-19 patients, has officially opened in the City of Malolos.

The three-story facility, located at the Bulacan Medical Center extension building, was inaugurated by provincial officials including Governor Daniel Fernando.

It was repurposed from a planned maternity ward, with the provincial government allocating PHP200 million for its construction.

The third floor can accommodate 100 patients with moderate symptoms, suspect and probable cases of COVID-19.

The second floor houses 50 beds for patients in severe and critical condition, 10 intensive care beds, and four dialysis machines.

The first floor contains the emergency room, triage area, X-ray, and other laboratories.

The BICC offers free healthcare and meals to patients and is staffed by 30 doctors and 54 nurses working on a skeletal schedule.
