Leyte transforms gym into COVID-19 isolation facility

The provincial government of Leyte has transformed the Leyte Academic Center gymnasium into a dedicated isolation area for COVID-19 probable and suspect patients.

Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla stated that the gymnasium can house 100 cubicles, each measuring 8x8 feet and equipped with medical beds and other essential items for individual patients.

The facility includes separate comfort rooms for males and females with a reliable water supply, and the entire gymnasium is air-conditioned.

A large tent, comparable in size to the gymnasium, has been set up nearby to accommodate family members of patients.

This conversion is a proactive measure by the provincial government in anticipation of a potential increase in COVID-19 cases.

As of the report, Leyte has zero probable cases, 45 suspect cases (19 in hospitals and 26 in home isolation), and two confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The two confirmed cases are from Burauen, with one patient in the Burauen District Hospital and the other at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City.
