BoC seizes P39.6M kush from Canada

The Bureau of Customs (BoC) seized P39.6 million worth of kush hidden inside two balikbayan boxes that arrived from Canada at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).

The shipment, declared as used household goods and personal effects, was sent via U Mac Forwarders Express Inc. from Vancouver, Canada, and consigned to John Paul de Leon of San Mateo, Rizal.

During a physical examination on February 5, 2025, authorities discovered 108 vacuum-sealed pouches containing approximately 28,296 grams of kush.

One box also contained a small plastic container with 60 unidentified tablets.

The Bureau of Customs and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed the contraband.

CIIS Director Verne Enciso stated that the amount of marijuana found will hurt communities.

The consignees, senders, and recipients face charges for violating customs laws and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
