Only ‘essential travel’ abroad allowed, says BI
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is reminding Filipinos that international travel remains restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with only a few exceptions allowed.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente stated that Filipinos are prohibited from leaving the country unless they are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), holders of study visas, or permanent residents abroad.
This reminder comes after six Filipinos were prevented from flying to Cambodia as tourists to attend a business meeting on shrimp farming.
The BI will continue to enforce these restrictions until the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases lifts them.
