Thirty-one foreign nationals, mostly Chinese, were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in a raid on a suspected online scam hub in Makati City.
The operation on Monday evening targeted the 11th floor of a commercial building along Ayala Avenue, where dozens of foreigners were found operating computer workstations.
The scam hub used the name of a popular insurance firm to conceal its illegal activities.
Among the arrested individuals, 24 were Chinese, two were Taiwanese, three were Malaysian, and two were from Myanmar.
All were found to be working without necessary permits, violating their conditions of stay, and have been tagged as undesirable.
The suspects are detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending investigation and deportation proceedings.
The raid is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to prevent the Philippines from becoming a base for international cybercrime syndicates.
