BI to speed up deportation of POGO workers after recent expulsion

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has pledged to accelerate the deportation of foreign workers from Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) following the recent expulsion of 84 Chinese nationals.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado stated that the expedited deportation is a clear message to illegal foreign operators.

The 84 Chinese workers were apprehended during government raids on POGO sites in Tarlac, Cebu, and Paranaque City.

Upon arrest, it was discovered that these individuals were either overstaying or lacked proper documentation.

Viado emphasized the BI's commitment to collaborating with law enforcement agencies to maintain border security.

The recent deportations align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to dismantle illegal POGOs and remove foreign nationals who breach immigration laws.

The BI expressed gratitude for the effective coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Chinese Embassy in facilitating the deportations.
