Bahrain to shoulder repatriation cost for 346 OFWs

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are coordinating with Bahrain's Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for the repatriation of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government of Bahrain will cover the expenses for the repatriation of these 346 Filipino workers.

These 346 OFWs are part of a larger group of 803 who sought assistance to return to the Philippines, with 457 already repatriated since January.

The LMRA has assured support for displaced Filipino workers, including the resolution of labor claims and repatriation assistance, especially given that 8,800 establishments have closed due to the pandemic.

A Bahraini official committed to helping OFWs pursue claims against employers who fail to fulfill their responsibilities and ensuring their safe return.
