Ateneo edges La Salle in UAAP women's basketball thriller

Ateneo de Manila University narrowly defeated De La Salle University with a final score of 65-62 in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament.

The Blue Eagles secured the win with clutch free throws from Junize Calago and Kai Oani, preventing a late comeback by the Lady Archers.

Luisa San Juan sparked La Salle's rally in the fourth quarter, hitting four three-pointers and narrowing the deficit from 51-38 to 62-59 with four minutes remaining.

Bea Dalisay further reduced the margin to one point, 63-62, with a trey with 31.5 seconds left, but Ateneo held on.

Reigning MVP Kacey Dela Rosa delivered another strong performance for Ateneo with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks.

This victory brings Ateneo's record to 2-1, while La Salle remains winless after three games.

Ateneo assistant coach Bacon Austria acknowledged the team's slow start and finish, attributing the win to late adjustments and emphasizing the importance of the rivalry game.
