UST Growling Tigresses remain undefeated after beating Ateneo

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses secured a dominant 77-54 victory over the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament.

Despite a remarkable 22-point, 20-rebound performance from Ateneo's Kacey Dela Rosa, UST maintained their undefeated streak, improving to a 2-0 record.

UST established an early lead, scoring 32 points in the first quarter with multiple three-pointers from Kent Pastrana, Amby Ambos, Tacky Tacatac, and Eka Soriano.

Although Ateneo narrowed the deficit to five points in the third quarter, crucial plays from Soriano, Pastrana, and Tacatac helped UST regain control.

UST's defense intensified in the final quarter, limiting Ateneo to only six points and holding Dela Rosa scoreless from the field.

Growling Tigresses head coach Haydee Ong attributed the win to a total team effort and acknowledged the need for further effort in the second round against Ateneo.
