PNP officers awarded for swift response to Marcos Highway shooting

Eight police officers from Antipolo City were awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) for their swift response to a road rage shooting incident.

The incident involved a motorist who engaged in a shooting rampage on Marcos Highway, leading to a car chase, and resulted in four individuals being injured and one victim dying.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old businessman Kenneth Alajar Bautista, was apprehended by authorities within an hour of the incident.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez commended the PNP, particularly under the leadership of PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil, for their swift arrest and exemplary performance, highlighting the speed and responsiveness shown.

Romualdez stated that the quick arrest demonstrates the Philippine National Police's (PNP) improved response capabilities and that the rule of law is functioning.

The PNP is preparing to file multiple frustrated homicide charges and violations of the Omnibus Election Code against the arrested suspect.
