Alex Eala drops to world No. 69 after break

Filipina tennis player Alexandra Eala dropped to world No. 69 in the WTA rankings after a three-week break from competition.

She recently made her debut in the Wimbledon singles main draw and reached the final of the Eastbourne Open.

Eala is now preparing for the National Bank Open in Montreal, Canada, starting July 26, which will serve as preparation for her third Grand Slam main draw appearance at the US Open.

The National Bank Open, slated July 26 to August 7, will release its official draw Friday, with No. 69 Eala potentially facing elite opponents she has previously encountered.

Ms. Eala partnered with Ms. Gauff in the Italian Open last summer while Ms. Pegula was her tormentor in the Miami Open, where she became the first-ever semifinalist.

She is also scheduled to compete in the Cincinnati Open from August 7 to 18 and the Monterrey Open from August 18 to 23.

Eala aims for her first Grand Slam singles win at the US Open in New York.
