AFP denies China's claims on WPS resupply mission

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has refuted claims by the China Coast Guard (CCG) that it supervised or allowed a recent resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

The AFP asserted that its resupply missions to Ayungin Shoal are lawful, routine, and conducted within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone, in accordance with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The military emphasized that it does not seek permission from foreign nations to conduct operations that protect Philippine sovereign rights.

The AFP stated that it rejects the CCG's false narrative, which aims to mislead the international community and assert control where they have no legal basis.

Ayungin Shoal is recognized as being within the Philippine exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, granting the Philippines the right to conduct activities there.
