Brawner: No VP security ‘takeover,’ but new personnel in
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. has temporarily replaced military personnel assigned to Vice President Sara Duterte's security team amid a Philippine National Police (PNP) probe.
Brawner clarified that the AFP is not taking over the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG), which remains under the Presidential Security Command.

Brawner assured that the Vice President's security is a primary concern and that the VPSPG will be replaced by a joint contingent from the PNP and AFP.
The AFP is studying how many personnel will be replaced from the group's approximately 350 members.
Brawner also cited the Vice President's statement about taking actions against the President, First Lady, and House Speaker if anything happens to her as a reason for ensuring her safety.
