The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed 25 police officers to augment the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) assigned to guard Vice President Sara Duterte.
This deployment was requested by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) due to an incident involving some VPSPG members last Saturday.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo confirmed the deployment, stating that these officers will temporarily replace security personnel involved in the incident pending an investigation.
AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. explained that the temporary replacement is a precautionary measure as VPSPG members are facing a subpoena for a PNP investigation.
Fajardo also noted that any security detail assigned to the President and Vice President must undergo a strict vetting process by the Presidential Security Command.
