AFP assures public of commitment to overcome COVID-19

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) urged the public to have faith and assured them of the military's commitment to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing inspiration from the Lenten season.

AFP spokesperson Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo encouraged Filipinos to believe in the nation's resilience and spirit, likening the current challenge to Christ's triumph over death.

Arevalo emphasized the military's dedication to protecting communities not only from the virus but also from other threats like terrorist groups.

He highlighted that military medical personnel would be on 24/7 duty at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium quarantine facility.

The AFP spokesperson acknowledged the difficulties faced by the public during the enhanced community quarantine and encouraged cooperation.

Arevalo urged the public to support the government's safety measures, including staying at home, social distancing, and practicing good hygiene.

He also requested prayers for health workers and the less fortunate, stating that physical health is now a patriotic duty.

The military leadership assured frontline troops of their protection and well-being, recognizing their crucial role in combating the virus.
