Duterte urges prayer, hints at April lockdown extension

President Duterte urged Filipinos to unite in prayer to overcome the coronavirus pandemic, stating that only God can truly solve the problem.

He acknowledged the severe threat posed by COVID-19 to the nation and its economy, noting the increasing death tolls in various countries.

The President admitted the difficulties and uncertainties in addressing the crisis, citing the government's limited resources and shortage of funds for the COVID-19 response.

As of April 6, the Department of Health reported 3,660 confirmed cases, 73 recoveries, and 163 deaths in the Philippines.

Worldwide, COVID-19 had infected more than 1.27 million people and killed more than 69,000.

He indicated a potential extension of the Luzon lockdown until the end of April, emphasizing the importance of staying home, wearing face masks, and practicing social distancing.

Duterte also warned enemies of the state against testing the government's resolve amid the health crisis, stating that the government is desperate.
