A total of 949 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental during the first week of repatriation, from May 25 to June 1.
Of the total repatriates, 601 were residents of Negros Occidental and 348 were from Bacolod City.
Repatriation efforts included sweeper flights that brought 453 passengers, a Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft that transported 24 individuals, and sea travel which brought 116 individuals stranded in Manila.
Additionally, eight repatriates from Cebu arrived at the port of Escalante City.
The Bacolod City government recorded 299 OFW repatriates from May 25 to 29, with an additional 12 arriving via AirAsia on Monday and 37 over the weekend.
Returning OFWs are undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine in accommodations secured through agreements between the city, province, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The repatriation is part of a Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) resolution to transport over 24,000 OFWs from Metro Manila to various regions.
