8 Filipino seafarers back in PH after MV Eternity C attack

Eight Filipino seafarers, survivors of the Houthi attack on the MV Eternity C, have returned to the Philippines.

They arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 via flight SV870 from Saudi Arabia and were welcomed by government officials.

The seafarers received financial assistance totaling P150,000 from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Additional support includes medical care from the Department of Health and reintegration aid from TESDA.

The MV Eternity C sank in the Red Sea on July 7 and 8 after being attacked twice by Houthi militants.

While eight crew members have returned, two Filipino seafarers are "most likely" dead, and the remaining 13 are still unaccounted for.

The DMW has suspended the license of the principal and manning agency of the seafarers' ship.
