66% of Filipinos favor impeachment trial for VP Sara Duterte, SWS survey shows

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by the Stratbase ADR Institute found that 66% of Filipinos believe Vice President Sara Duterte should undergo an impeachment trial, with the survey conducted in June 2025 among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

The survey results were called an "eye opener" by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno, who stated that the Filipino people are waiting for the impeachment trial to begin and see the evidence.

Support for the trial was strongest in Metro Manila at 76%, followed by Balance Luzon at 69%, the Visayas at 67%, and Mindanao at 55%.

Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong stated that the SWS survey vindicates the House of Representatives for initiating the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Adiong believes the survey results affirm that the Filipino people, especially those in Mindanao, want public officials to be held accountable through constitutional means, and that there is a "clamor ng ating taong bayan for accountability, na mga issue na hindi nasagot, ay dapat masagot sa tamang paraan."

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesperson, Ruth Castelo, stated that Vice President Duterte is "eager" to face her impeachment trial and present her case, but her legal team is pursuing legal strategies to have the complaint dismissed.

The SWS survey also revealed that 19% of respondents nationwide did not agree that Vice President Duterte should address the impeachment charges, while 15% were undecided.
