DSWD backs removing 4Ps 7-year limit to keep 2 million beneficiaries

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) supports proposed amendments to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) law to remove the seven-year duration limit for beneficiaries.

This proposed change aims to prevent two million Filipinos from exiting the program in 2026 solely due to reaching the maximum duration.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian emphasized that the program is an investment in human capital and beneficiaries should stay as long as they need to ensure this investment is not wasted.

The amendment to the 4Ps law was also a call from President Marcos in his recent State of the Nation Address.

Gatchalian assured that the law will be amended with the help of Congress and the Senate so that those not yet ready to exit the program can remain.
