Sen. Tulfo to prioritize 4Ps law review amid concerns on abuses

Senator Erwin Tulfo, as chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Justice, Welfare and Rural Development, will prioritize reviewing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and amending its law, Republic Act No. 11310.

Tulfo supports proposals from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure the program benefits those most in need.

Concerns have been raised about potential abuses and long-term beneficiaries occupying slots, with some families receiving aid despite improved living conditions.

The senator aims to revalidate the list of beneficiaries to address the backlog and allow new recipients to join the program.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also wants the program reviewed, noting that it has been abused and some beneficiaries have been receiving aid for too long.

The DSWD will assess the duration beneficiaries should remain in the conditional cash transfer scheme.
