3 weather systems to bring New Year's rain across PH

Three weather systems are expected to bring rain to various parts of the Philippines as the country welcomes New Year 2026.

The shear line will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Quezon and Camarines Norte on December 31.

The northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the Ilocos Region, CAR, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

Other areas in the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Palawan can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

On New Year's Day, January 1, 2026, the shear line will continue to affect Aurora and Quezon with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The amihan will still bring isolated light rains to the Ilocos Region, CAR, and Cagayan Valley on January 1.
