PNP dismisses 2 cops for unauthorized security detail of Rep. Duterte

The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Rommel Marbil, ordered the dismissal of police Executive Master Sergeant Rexter Millano and Staff Sergeant Leonard Pamat for moonlighting as unauthorized security escorts for Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte.

The two sergeants have been declared Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) and will face charges of grave neglect of duty and grave irregularity of performance of duty.

Millano and Pamat were assigned with the Marilog and Paquibato police stations in Davao City.

Their immediate commanders will also be sanctioned for failing to properly account for their personnel.

This dismissal stems from an incident on February 24 where the two police officers were seen providing security detail for Duterte during an altercation at a Davao bar.

PNP spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo stated that while congressmen are allowed security detail, these were withdrawn during the election period unless an exemption was granted.

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) Vice Chairperson Rafael Calinisan assured that the investigation will be apolitical and that the PNP chief's decision to dismiss the officers will be reviewed by Napolcom.
