Samples of neighbors of OFW with UK Covid for genome sequencing
Two neighbors of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Quezon City who initially tested positive for COVID-19 have had their samples sent for genome sequencing to determine if they have the UK variant.
The two individuals, a 36-year-old male and a 44-year-old female from Riverside, Barangay Commonwealth, are asymptomatic.
They reside within a 50-meter radius of the OFW's apartment and were among the 206 people from Riverside who underwent swab testing.
The Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) is conducting further contact tracing for these two new cases.
Individuals living with the two positive patients have also undergone swab tests and have been recommended to stay in quarantine facilities for 14 days.
