A returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Canada tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated with Pfizer.
The 25-year-old OFW arrived in Cebu on February 9 and underwent quarantine protocols.
This is the second case of a vaccinated OFW testing positive for COVID-19 after returning to the Philippines.
The first case involved an OFW from the United Arab Emirates who returned to the country on January 25.
According to DOH 7 spokesperson Mary Jean Loreche, while vaccines can prevent severe disease, their ability to prevent transmission is still under investigation.
