Davao Region confirms 3 UK COVID-19 variant cases

Davao Region has confirmed three cases of the UK COVID-19 variant, B.1.1.7, with two of them originating from Davao de Oro province.

The two patients from Davao de Oro are a 33-year-old male from Compostela and a 54-year-old female from New Bataan, both of whom have mild symptoms and are under strict isolation.

These two individuals have no known link to each other, and their contact tracing efforts have been intensified to include third-degree contacts.

The province of Davao de Oro has doubled its efforts in tracing close contacts and placing them under quarantine following the detection of the variant.

The B.1.1.7 variant is known to spread more easily and quickly compared to other variants of COVID-19.
