17 Mandaue City cops test positive for COVID-19

Seventeen police officers from the Mandaue City Police Office have tested positive for COVID-19, with local health officials confirming the results on Monday, June 29.

Three of the infected personnel are from Police Station 5 in Barangay Opao, while the other 14 are recent cases from a swab test conducted on June 26.

All 17 officers are currently isolated in the Mandaue City Isolation Facility and are reportedly asymptomatic.

Reserve personnel have been assigned to ensure services continue while the infected officers are in isolation.

Mandaue City Police Director Colonel Jonathan Abella stated that personnel consistently observe physical distancing and wear masks during patrols.

Police Station 5 has undergone disinfection to prevent further infections.

Mandaue City remains under general community quarantine until July 15, while neighboring Cebu City is under enhanced community quarantine.
