14 PUIs in NoMin test negative for COVID-19

Fourteen Persons Under Investigation (PUI) in Northern Mindanao have tested negative for the novel coronavirus disease.

Dr. Jose Chan, NMMC medical center chief, stated that four PUIs tested negative on Saturday, March 21, and the remaining 10 on Sunday, March 22.

Most of the PUIs cleared by the NMMC were from Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon, and had contracted influenza, exhibiting symptoms similar to COVID-19.

All 40 NMMC health workers who were quarantined and tested negative for COVID-19 will resume duties on Tuesday, March 24.

As of Sunday, March 22, Northern Mindanao has 186 PUIs, with 16 admitted to hospitals, 123 under quarantine, 10 having completed quarantine, and 34 discharged.

Three PUIs in the region have died, one of whom tested positive for COVID-19, while the other two died of severe acute respiratory illness (Sari).

In Iligan City, a PUI from Lanao del Sur died with flu-like symptoms before testing for COVID-19, and a swab sample was taken for testing.
