13 PDLs eyed in Percy Lapid slay

Thirteen persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are now persons of interest in the killing of broadcast journalist Percy Lapid, according to Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) acting Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr.

Initially, four PDLs were identified, then seven more were added, followed by another from Iwahig Penal Colony, bringing the total to twelve.

An additional PDL from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) brings the total number of persons of interest to thirteen.

Lapid was shot dead on October 3 by Joel Escorial and his accomplices, and Escorial later surrendered, implicating two alleged middlemen who were PDLs.

One of the alleged middlemen, Jun Villamor, reportedly died inside the New Bilibid Prison, with his second autopsy indicating suffocation as the cause of death.
